I had the privilege and honor of reading Hybrid, the sequel to @candace_kade_author YA Sci-Fi Enhanced, and it is a serious thrill ride!

If you love action, suspense, unique futuristic world building and a touch of romance, put this in your TBR. You won’t regret it. Here’s my full endorsement:

Heard these words by @andrewpetersonmusic at a creativity workshop yesterday.

As an artist, I search for the purpose and meaning in my craft and this phrase reminds me why it’s important to create. To craft worlds and stories bigger than ourselves and share them with hearts needing to hear. To collaborate with the idea, the beast caught behind a door you can’t open—or wrestle—alone.
And when you roll up your sleeves and say “let’s do this,” the fight begins. But we keep creating, striving to improve, because art matters.

This quote reminds me why.

I love the hope and wonder new journals bring. New stores rise, on blank pages and this one fits my new story world in a strange way.

(As usual, I don’t have any pictures to share of the event. I’m usually too in the moment to remember) but thank you @arthousedallas as always, it was awesome, filling, and a sweet homecoming. 💕

sometimes we run,
sometimes we soar,
sometimes we’re grounded by changing winds.

We can’t out run life’s seasons.
They’ll nip our heels eventually
and sometimes, bring us to our knees.

Most of you know I love fall, but this one hasn’t been so kind.

I know I’ve been a bit secluded, quiet.
Here’s why.

I lost my older sister unexpectedly in May; follow that with the passing of my mom last week; and then sprinkle in a job transition for my husband, a premature house sale, and upcoming relocation a few states away.

Needless to say, life has been a different adventure these last five months.

Creativity and joy feel scarce.
But through it all, I find that people matter most.
Relationships and Love sustains.

I’m grateful for you.
For community.
For artists that wrestle with the deeper aches of life, wringing out beauty and laughter in times of sadness.

So yes, I’ve been quiet, weathering the season, knowing it won’t last forever, thinking of you.

Find joy, spread kindness, and lend a smile.

Sometimes life is hard, but
we don’t have to be.
